Abstract

This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (https://www.elsevier.com/about/our-business/policies/article-withdrawal). This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief. There is an error in the significance of a key observation in this paper the fistula rate post-hypospadias repair. Three (10%) fistulas were observed in the Alloderm group (n=30) versus 8 (26.7%) in the control group (n = 30) with a reported p-value of 0.014 in the paper. Subsequent re-calculation by the authorship group and by the JPS Editorial Board suggests that the true p value is > 0.05. When challenged about the statistical results, the authorship group admitted that the p-value was “not correct” and the error was explained as a product of the analysis being delegated to a single researcher (unnamed). In addition, once this statistical concern was raised, re-review of the paper by the original reviewers determined that since this p-value was not statistically significant and that the fistula rate was the primary significant observation in the paper, then retraction of the paper is indicated. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.
