Abstract

The management of cancer necessitates the use of innovative and advanced techniques that ensure precise targeting of tumor cells. Presently, the methods employed for cancer suppression face challenges due to inadequate targeting capabilities. Furthermore, even with gene therapy, there’s a risk of degradation in the bloodstream, highlighting the necessity for encapsulation and protection. This chapter delves into how nanoparticles regulate autophagy in cancer treatment. It examines the ways nanostructures can either stress the autophagy regulation or transport chemotherapy drugs and other regulatory elements to influence autophagy, thereby aiding in cancer suppression, remodeling the tumor microenvironment (TME), and enhancing the sensitivity to therapy. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
