Abstract

A novel and green synthesis of 2-((2-aryl-3-oxoisoindolin-1-yl)methyl)quinazolin-4(3H)-one is described. The one-pot three-component reaction between 2-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-ones, aryl amines and 2-formylbenzoic acid, through a sequential condensation, sp3 C–H bond functionalization and cyclization reactions in aqueous media leads to formation of desired compounds in good to excellent yields. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd
