Abstract

Autophagy, recognized as a mechanism of cell death, plays a pivotal role in the regulation of various biological processes. It exhibits dual roles, acting both protectively and lethally within cells. This process has garnered attention for its potential in addressing numerous pathological conditions, particularly cancer. Radiotherapy is a key treatment modality for cancer, yet tumor cells can develop resistance to this form of therapy. This chapter delves into the role of autophagy in influencing radioresistance in cancer treatment. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
